A proper "Game Release!" post

On March 23th, my game was released!

This game has been in the works since early-2019. Even though my small studio was created on mid-2018, I didn’t begin to work on a game until a year later bc i was just beginning to establish my game studio c:

My original plan was to finish the game in a couple of months at the end of 2019 and, well… that obviously didn’t happen haha ^^;;;

At the beginning, the story was planned as a “short” story (which is why I wrote it, at the start, directly into one single file in Renpy). Later, the story began to grow more than just that xD;; Because of this, I separated it into many scenes (and I did the same in Renpy, each scene in separated files) to organize it better.

This also meant I needed more resources (characters art, BGs, CGs, music, sound effects, etc), which takes time to create/get when you are a solo game developer. So for that, I’m really, REALLY, thankful of all the people that helped me with the game!!! 😊😙

Completed Game

After 4 years (and bit more), this game has been completed!!

Though, it’s far from being perfect and polished ^^;;

- The story (the script) is 100% completed.

I actually wanted to add more things but since it’s my first game, my focus was to create a finished game… rather than continuing working on a BIG, HUGE game that will need more time, resources and energy (than I don’t have) to complete it.

I think many people (like me) make this mistake: Thinking of new ideas, and more ideas, and trying to put everything into one single game. And because of that, the development takes more time (that you don’t have), more resources (that you don’t have) and more energy (that you don’t have).

In the end, you end up so exhausted without publishing anything at all :c And that’s something I wanted to avoid!!

- The GUI is not complete. But it works.

Since my priority was to complete the story first (since the game is a visual novel), the GUI was left behind. I did want to create a more elegant GUI but, I decided to finish the story first and then, if I had time and energy, I would focus on the GUI.

But, well, I finished the story and I didn’t have time nor energy left haha xD

- In the future, I’ll revamp this game.

One of the things (not the only one, ofc) that motivated me to keep going despite seeing my not-so-elegant GUI / new ideas left behind was to think ahead. Right now, I don’t have the time, resources nor energy to implement everything I want.

But!

If I have a finished game now, then, in the future, I can revamp it and implement all the stuff I couldn’t the first time!

Who knows? Maybe in the future I can even make it a commercial game ^^

As a final note, I just want to say,

Play my game!!!!!

AAAAAAA!!

I’ll see you guys in the next update! ^^

Thank you!

I’m so exhausted OTL

HELL YEAH!!! Finishing a game, first and foremost, is a powerful achievement!! Especially one as large as this... I think, for certain, this game is a wonderfully made experience, and all the effort put into it was worth it!!!
